Vancouver, BC (August 12, 2007) - Kayak for a Cure™ announced today its second annual event was both successful and entertaining for everyone involved.

“Kayak for a Cure™ II is delighted to announce our continued support of the Canadian Cancer Society and its programs. The 2nd annual Kayak for a Cure™ proved to be an uplifting and fun event to help raise funds in support of the CCS and share the sport of kayaking with the Vancouver community.” shared Kayak for a Cure founder Mark Starkey.
Kayak for a Cure II paddlers each raised the minimum $300 CAD to be listed on the final roster of participants for the Vancouver kayak event. “It was easy to reach out to friends and family during fundraising, shared KFAC II participant Stefan Avall, fundraising was the last thing on my mind thanks to event’s structure. Kayak for a Cure makes it simple through the online registration and fundraising system to be a part of this event. Which let us all focus on having a blast and enjoying eachother’s company throughout the day.”

In its second year, Kayak for a Cure II raised nearly $20,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society, which was given to the families in BC. “We plan to rotate where we give the funds each year, shared Mark, we want to be sure we’re always a part of the solution for all types of cancer and the research that’s required to progress in finding a cure, while lending a helping hand to the people that are fighting it right here and now.”

Last year, 100% of funds raised was given to research, while Kayak for a Cure II fundraising went to the families here in BC.

“I flew out to Vancouver from Ohio to be a part of this, says Jessica Fletcher (Cincinnati, Ohio), I think it’s an amazing avenue to give back to the community, and have a blast with a solid bunch of people that are excited about life, family, friends, community and the outdoors. You can bet I’ll be coming back to Vancouver every year for this - it’s amazing.”
